Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 pie crusts
  • 2½ lbs mixed apples
  • 2 Tbs flour
  • ¾ C sugar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 Tbs lemon juice

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375°.
  2. Prepare crusts (they should be rolled out and chilled).
  3. Peel, core and chop the apples.
  4. Combine apples, flour, ¾ cup of sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and lemon juice. Mix until combined.
  5. Place one pie crust in pie pan.
  6. Fill with the apple mixture.
  7. Place the remaining pie crust on top. Either do a lattice or create some other openings to let steam out.
  8. Sprinkle crust with the 1 teaspoon of sugar. Return entire pie to the refigerator for 10 minutes.
  9. Bake for 50 - 55 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  10. Cool on a pie rack.
