BBQ Sauce

Ingredients (~2‌1⁄2 cup)

  • 2 cups (480g) tomato sauce
  • 1⁄4 cup (80g) pure maple syrup
  • 2 Tbs (40g) molasses
  • 2 Tbs (30g) apple cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbs (45g) worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbs (30g) liquid smoke - or smoked paprika
  • 1‌1⁄2 Tbs chili powder
  • 1 Tbs garlic powder
  • 1⁄2 tsp black pepper
  • 1⁄4 tsp fine salt
  • 1⁄2 tsp ground expresso (optional)

Directions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor and process until smooth.
  2. Add to a pot over medium heat. Once it begins to simmer, cook for 3-5 minutes, whisking continuously until the spices cook through and it is warmed throughout.
  3. This bbq sauce is delicious right away, of course, but the flavors truly enhance to amazing flavor by the next day after chilling overnight! I love to use this over pinto beans and heat through or over veggie burgers, fries, potatoes, etc.

Notes

  • This sauce will keep well, covered and refrigerated, for several weeks, thanks to the vinegar which will act as a preservative.
