America's Diner · Bistro Collection
This series, often called simply the "Diner" series, was released by Fiesta for a very short time in 2010. It is a replication of dinnerware sold to restaurants during the 1940's and 1950's. There were two basic styles: Checkerboard and Stripes. The Checkerboard style is preferred.
A place settings consists of:
There are several other interesting aspects to this series. Several items were available in what we call the menu style, that is, they had menu items and prices around the rim - HAMBURGER & FRIES 1.20 - MALTS & SHAKES 75¢
Many of the available items - if not all - came with decals. There are four decals that we have seen:
"Open 24 hrs" and "Time To Eat" are our favorites. These are always in a single color.
As far as we have been able to determine, the available colors are Black, Chocolate, Cinnabar, Cobalt, Scarlet and Turquoise.
Ideally we would have 4 place settings in mixed colors: Chocolate, Cinnabar, Cobalt and Tuquoise.
Another decal that appeared was the multi-colored "Diner" decal. This could be found on many different pieces.
We have also seen a bowl that looks a lot like the Pasta Bowl, but we are not certain it is the same size, that is, 12" diameter.
Finally there were ancillary pieces, not part of the place setting. A platter, Range Top Salt & Pepper, a utensil crock and a disc pitcher.
