Synopsis: A chronicle of one woman's 1,100-mile solo hike undertaken as a way to recover from a recent personal tragedy.

The is based on the book Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed which documents her attempt to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, over one thousand miles long - alone.

We learn who she is, and what has driven her to try this. The story is well told, interesting and completely believable. Witherspoon does a masterful job portraying Strayed and we very quick learn to like and respect this woman. The story is not overly dramatic and does not fall into the many tropes that Hollywood slaps upon stories of personal stuggle. We very much enjoyed watching this.
