This was a wonderful movie. The writing, by Greta Gerwig (who also directed it) was superb. It is very difficult to generate 90 minutes of believable teenage dialog and she masters it.

The leads, played by Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf, were brilliant yet kudos must also be given to Beanie Feldstien as Lady Bird's best friend Julie and to the ever wonderful Lois Smith as Sister Sarah Joan.

This story exlores the very close but very strained relationship between Christine, who prefers to be called Lady Bird, and her mother Marion. Although incredibly well done, it must be noted that the entire story is from Lady Bird's perspective. Because of this we are left to wonder at the motiviation of some of the mother's actions, these are not explained to us as Lady Bird would not know of them.

All in all, even with some emotionally charged moments, this is a very enjoyable movie with some terrific writing and excellent acting. It manages in just an hour and a half to pack one heck of a story.
